Every so often I do a round-up of cute Lana Parrilla pictures from her moments on camera when she isn't playing stern Regina Mills on 'Once Upon a Time' and is just being herself. Truth be told, I post these Lana pages of random photos simply because they amuse me, but strangely enough they also happen to be among my most popular pages. Oh, who's kidding who - they are my most popular pages on this blog. I mean, that page of Lana and her sister Deena is just a phenomenal performer, and I'm still kind of scratching my head over that. It's like my top-viewed page every single day. It's even better than the Lana Parrilla/Jennifer Morrison page! Who knew? But, that's what you folks want, and I like it too, so it's a marriage made in heaven.
The pictures in these round-ups may not be particularly new - some of them are, it is obvious from the context - but that is not why I post them. They are here simply because they are new to me, and I think they are worth sharing because they make me crack up.
My personal belief is that these shots show the real Lana Parrilla - if there is a real Lana Parrilla, you can never be sure in Hollywood whether there's just more tinsel underneath the tinsel - and the glamour shots are kind of a put-on. Oh, she's gorgeous and all that, but she's got a wacky spirit that she controls for work while not taking herself too seriously. So, I throw in a couple of those glamour poses for good measure, because I think the contrast is hilarious - she's obviously not the pouty little vixen that the studio likes to portray her as, and that she needs to put out there to meet fan expectations, but it's good for business. She's a terrific actress who pulls it off and now has enough success that she doesn't have to worry about coming across as flaky to Ms. Humorless in Standards and Practices.
Of course, I may be completely wrong and Lana may in fact be a totally humorless glamour girl who does the zany stuff just to distract from the fact that she has the personality of an accountant who just lost his green eyeshades. After all, as Spock would say, "I've been dead before" (I know, non sequitor alert, and yes, you now may make fun of me for being a Star Trek geek), but I don't think I'm wrong this time around. She has fun with it, and that's terrific, not everybody does. Yes, trust me, not everybody knows how to be playful and poke fun at themselves, I didn't believe it either until I saw it with my own eyes.
We also have occasional appearances here by Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Jared Gilmore and Christina Haig, but for this page and this page only - and all my other Lana Parrilla pages on this blog - this is the Lana Parrilla Show, all the time on every channel and on power rotation. If you've made it this far, you should follow the photos on down, the best stuff is toward the bottom.
